John Curry (1814-1912) was the eighth Chief Justice of California, and a candidate in 1859 for Governor of California. He was employed for time after California became a state to represent the interests of the original holders of Mexican land grants, and later by the other side during investigations by the Board of California Land Commissioners.

David Weir (1889-1971) was a local historian, and the publisher for 30 or so years of the Fairfield Daily Republic newspaper (he retired in 1949 from the newspaper). This "unpublished manuscript" is said to be a series of unpublished articles that he wrote on Jose Francisco Armijo, and it is the primary source for the Thompson (1987) and Goerke-Shrode (2004) articles on the Armijo family.
